As I sit in my blisteringly hot apartment (In prewar NYC apartment buildings properly regulated temperature can be a hard find), I can’t help but imagine being whisked away to a sunny destination. And with the arrival of Valentine’s Day, now would be the perfect time for an impromptu getaway, whether it be with your sweetheart or best galentines!
Three Destinations, Three Budgets
Maldives – $$$$
After a quick 18 hour flight go ahead and hop on a boat or seaplane to get to your resort of choice. My top pick? The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. Hey, if it’s good enough for Michael Phelps and Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s good enough for me… especially if that kind of eye candy is roaming the exotic sands! Stay under the sea or in the middle of the ocean, the choice is yours!
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – $$$
A 6 hour flight is not so bad when sun, sand and surf are waiting for you upon landing. For a luxurious getaway with a less hefty price tag than the Maldives, Puerto Vallarta might just be the place. The Hotel Mousai is one of Puerto Vallarta’s newest adults only, all-inclusive luxury resorts, and definitely on my personal travel wish list. From the beach to the rooftop pool, this hotel is without a doubt the place to relax, hit the spa, practice yoga, and of course, have a constant stream of margaritas running through your veins, all while being surrounded by the most beautiful lush jungles Mexico has to offer.
Punta Cana, Dominica Republic – $
There is no tropical paradise easier to get to from the North East than the Caribbean. And, when on a budget, Groupon can be your best friend.
