The Chic Mahout

After a wonderful and lengthy honeymoon in Thailand, The Eden Edition is ready to face reality and get back to the grindstone.  One of the greatest experiences we had while in the land of smiles was our interaction with the Thai national animal: the elephant.

While staying at the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort, my husband and I partook in a mahout training session.  In the lush jungles of Northern Thailand, we learned how to drive and control our own elephant.  Sitting upon her neck, and using basic commands, Bounsri and I  hiked through the wild, reluctantly passing water buffalo that frightened her.  We strolled leisurely, stopped for some greenery and a drink, and bathed in the river.

As I am hoping this once in a lifetime experience is NOT once in a lifetime, I have compiled the perfect accessories to make any elephant excursion sartorially splendid!

1. Keep that pesky hair out of your face with this light and stylish Missoni Crochet Headband.  2. A simple t-shirt is all you need on your elephant adventure.  This tee from Rag & Bone is a great option.  3. Be one with your gentle giant with Garland Collection‘s Elephant earrings (I say go for the rose gold)! 4. Simple footwear is essential for a mahout.  I love these Havaianas flip flops with a small elephant pendant on the thong.  5.  Protect your eyes from the sun with these fab pair of Miu Miu‘s.  6. I’m always a fan of a leather bracelet, and this one by Chan Luu is a great accessory for your mahout outfit.  7.  To be a mahout, you must dress the part, these harem pants by Jean Paul Gaultier will make you the best dressed mahout in South East Asia! 8. Cherish your memories forever with a GoPro and relive all the fun once you get home!
